In 1947, a group of local men formed the Pine Castle Volunteer Fire Department. They purchased a lot at 1106 East Wallace Street and began building a fire station. While their building was under construction, they rented the newly built Pine Castle Woman’s Club, becoming their first renters.
The Pine Castle Fire Station was completed in 1948. In time they served an area roughly bound by Michigan on the north, Sand Lake on the south, I-4 on the west, and Conway/Semoran on the east. They soon had the largest tax basis in Orange County, with three stations, unparelleled equipment, unparelleled fire fighters, an award winning Ladies Auxiliary, and a community who loved them….
