American Association of University Women Orlando-Winter Park Branch

The 1928-1978 50th anniversary yearbook of the American Association of University Women, Orlando – Winter Park Florida Branch states: “Fifty years ago [1928], Mrs. Edgar Hyatt, a charming and accomplished Orlando lady, invited eight key women of vision and ideals to her home to discuss organizing a Branch of the American Association of University Women. Eighteen ladies formed the branch of the Orlando-Winter Park Branch, AAUW. The Charter was granted in May, 1928.”

Included in the 50th anniversary yearbook published in 1978 is the list of past presidents. The 1953-1955 president, Miss Clara E. Wendel, is special to the Orangte County Library System as she was our first director.
