This information is from an interview I had with my great uncle, Bill Milligan, the son of James Manly Milligan. James Manly Milligan, my great grandfather, was born in Georgia in 1904. He was in the US Army Air Corps and fought in the front lines of WWII. At age thirty-eight he joined the army and the Air Core, and began working in the supplies department. My great grandmother did not want him to join the army because they had four children. He was determined to join the war to fight for his country.
In Belgium, during WWII, armies were scattered everywhere. The area where my great grandfather was fighting was called “NO MAN’s LAND”. While he was fighting, he happened to come upon a German in a fox hole. The German soldier fired his gun… Read more.
