Betty Hurd Cramer and her family moved to central Florida in 1951. Her husand (William P. Hurd) found employment as an accountant and became Orlando General Hospital’s first administrator before his tragic death in 1963. Betty bought the neighborhood swimming pool and ran it for decades, making it the center of the community.
