Marie Adams, Saint James Cathedral

Marie Adams recalls the days when attending Mass on Sunday meant a treacherous drive from Winter Garden to downtown Orlando before the days of I-4 and expressways, when the only Catholic church in the area was Saint James Church. Today it is known as St. James Catholic Cathedral still on the same corner in downtown Orlando.

As Marie Adams notes in this oral history interview, March 30 2011, the church has changed through the years and yet with the recent renovation of St. James she sees a restoration of its architectural integrity. For Marie, “one of the joys of living in Central Florida is her association with St. James Cathedral and the beautiful perpetuation of her Catholic faith.”   LISTEN
