This picture was taken somewhere right close to St. Mere Eglises [the first town to be liberated in France] in there where the Battle of the Bulge was going on. He was in one of Patton’s tank units, George Rollins. His father was the iceman here in Pine Castle… You had a card that had 25, 50, 75, or 100 whichever way you had it set. His dad knew which way, how much you wanted that day. If the card wasn’t in the window he didn’t stop to bring ice.
